Orlando Pirates are reeling from a tragic incident that left head coach Abdeslam Ouaddou and five staff members hospitalised. The accident occurred late on Sunday night as the team travelled back to Johannesburg from Gqeberha after their 3–0 victory over Chippa United.

The team bus was involved in a collision on the R21 highway. Two vehicles collided, and Ouaddou and several staff members got off the bus to assist those involved. Tragically, a Nissan NP200 then struck the stationary cars, hitting the group.
