City Sightseeing

Johannesburg is set to glow with romance this February as the city’s most iconic red bus prepares for a one-of-a-kind celebration. On Saturday, 14 February, City Sightseeing Johannesburg invites couples to celebrate Valentine’s Day 2026 through a curated evening that blends breathtaking urban skylines with the untamed mystery of a night at the zoo.

This bespoke “Sunset Jozi” experience offers a rare opportunity to see the City of Gold transition from a golden sunset to a starlit adventure, moving beyond traditional dinner dates to offer something truly adventurous.

From Munro Viewpoint to an Exclusive Night at the Zoo

The romantic journey begins at 17h30, departing from Rosebank aboard the open-top bus. The first stop is the legendary Munro Viewpoint, where couples will enjoy a glass of sparkling wine and Lindt chocolates while watching the sun dip below the horizon.

The highlight of the evening, however, is the exclusive access to the Johannesburg Zoo. While the gates usually close to the public at dusk, they will swing open specifically for City Sightseeing guests. The itinerary features:

  • Picnic Under the Stars: A relaxed hour on the zoo lawns where couples can enjoy their own baskets and drinks.

  • Private Guided Safari: A 1.5-hour tour led by expert staff, including a ride on game drive vehicles to witness the magic of the zoo after dark.

Limited Bookings and Luxury Prizes

To maintain an intimate atmosphere, the experience is strictly limited to 61 couples. At a price of R375 per person, the value extends beyond the tour itself; all guests are entered into a lucky draw for high-stakes prizes, including a romantic dinner at the NH Hotel Sandton (valued at R1,600) and a luxury breakfast at The Maslow Hotel.

“This Valentine’s evening is about creating lasting memories,” says Lisa Nel. By partnering with the Johannesburg Zoo, City Sightseeing is providing a platform for couples to rediscover the heart of Gauteng in a way that is both safe and exhilarating.
