22 October 2025, Finance and Economic Development MEC Lebogang Maile will deliver the keynote address at the Gauteng Tourism Sector Roundtable hosted by the department to gather insights from academics, industry associations, government and private sector practitioners on mechanisms and policy instruments necessary to cement Gauteng’s position as the tourism destination for inbound and domestic tourism.
The roundtable, themed ‘Cementing Gauteng’s Position as the Tourism and Global Event Destination of Choice in Africa” will further discuss policy imperatives needed to address challenges facing the sector in Gauteng, such as aging and poorly maintained road infrastructure, safety and security concerns, skill gaps and workforce development, investment into tourism facilities, and capital investment into infrastructure and services.
