As part of its Indaba activities, the Johannesburg Tourism Company announced the winner of the Joburg Tourism Entrepreneur Award at a breakfast at the Hilton Hotel in Durban on 14 May 2012.
Jimmy Face2Face Ntintili’s death shocks tourism industry
While the entire tourism industry is at the 2012 Tourism Indaba in Durban, we woke up to the sad news of the passing of Mr. Jimmy Ntintili, a leading figure and entrepreneur in the tourism sector in South Africa. Jimmy was the owner of Jimmy’s Face2Face Tours and a member of the Gauteng Tourism Authority Board. He was a regular personality at the Indaba since its inception and his presence was sadly missed at this year’s edition.
Top artists headline Standard Bank Joy of Jazz
The Standard Bank Joy of Jazz once again reinforces its status as this country’s premier jazz festival thanks to a stellar line up of international and local giants on the jazz scene.
Appearing in Newtown, Johannesburg, from August 23 to 25 headline acts include Grammy-Award winner Kurt Elling who has been hailed as the jazz male vocalist of his generation; trombone master Wycliffe Gordon; Grammy-winning guitarist Earl Klugh as well as an appearance by the world famous Duke Ellington Orchestra.

Members of the media are invited to attend a handover event today to be held at Berlin’s Museum fur Naturkunde. The Cradle of Humankind World Heritage Site in Gauteng (COH WHS) – famous for its unmatched, unique fossil finds – will today handover casts of the Australopithecus sediba fossil remains in the spirit of collaborative scientific investigation and a desire to share such treasures with the world.
