About the National Credit Regulator (NCR)

The National Credit Regulator (NCR) plays a crucial role in the regulation and oversight of the South African credit industry. Established under the National Credit Act No. 34 of 2005, the NCR is responsible for ensuring that the industry operates in a fair and transparent manner, with an emphasis on protecting consumers, particularly those from historically disadvantaged communities. The NCR carries out key functions such as credit industry research, policy development, monitoring compliance, and managing consumer credit education.

Key Responsibilities

As the Office Coordinator in the Bureau Compliance Department, your primary duties will include:

  1. General Administration: You will be responsible for developing and maintaining an effective document and information management system, ensuring smooth administrative operations within the department.
  2. Managing Communication: You will handle internal and external communications, including emails, mails, and telephone calls, ensuring that all communications are appropriately managed and directed.
  3. Secretarial Support: Provide administrative support to the team, including managing diaries, arranging travel, and coordinating various projects and meetings as needed.
  4. Minute Taking: During meetings and discussions, you will be required to take accurate minutes to ensure proper record-keeping.
  5. Leave Management: Managing and processing leave applications for the department.
  6. Efficient Office Management: You will ensure the smooth operation of the Manager’s office by handling various tasks that support the overall functioning of the department.

Knowledge and Skills Requirements

To excel in this role, the successful candidate must possess the following:

  • Knowledge:
    • A strong understanding of administrative processes and procedures.
    • In-depth knowledge of MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.).
  • Skills:
    • Excellent written and verbal communication skills to communicate effectively both internally and externally.
    • Proficiency in report writing and analytical skills.
    • Ability to manage time effectively, plan, and organize tasks.
    • Strong interpersonal skills for effective collaboration and communication within teams.
    • Expertise in taking minutes and keeping accurate records of meetings.
    • Good typing skills and proficiency in computer use.
    • Ability to manage, control, and coordinate projects effectively.

Educational and Experience Requirements:

  • Qualifications: A minimum of one-year post-matric qualification in Office Administration, Secretarial, or Personal Assistant studies (or any equivalent qualification).
  • Experience: At least 3 years of relevant experience in roles such as Secretary, Office Coordinator, or Personal Assistant, particularly in administrative functions and office coordination.
