George Matlou, the talented midfielder who joined Chiefs in 2022, has had a challenging time with injuries, particularly over the past year. After recovering from a lengthy layoff, he only returned to action in the New Year. Since then, he has managed just three starts across all competitions under head coach Nasreddine Nabi.

Matlou has, however, been utilised from the bench, making 12 substitute appearances. He played a key role in the Nedbank Cup final victory over rivals Orlando Pirates — a win that ended a ten-year trophy drought for the club.

<ins class="adsbygoogle" style="display:block;" data-ad-client="ca-pub-1852772760112594"
data-ad-slot="1819787043"
data-ad-format="auto" data-full-width-responsive="true"></ins>

Focus on the Present, Not the Contract

Speaking this week, Matlou admitted that he has not even engaged his agent regarding his future. “I’m not someone who talks to my agent during the season,” he said. “I want to stay focused on the team I’m playing for.
