She claims he tailgated her, swerved into her lane, and clipped her car. When both drivers exited their vehicles, the situation intensified. Augusto recorded the encounter, during which she says Sampear shouted at her, grabbed her arm, and assaulted her. She admitted to making a rude gesture. He acknowledges the collision and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.citizen.co.za\/news\/tv-news-anchor-aldrin-sampear-apologises-road-rage\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">admits to a heated exchange.<\/a> Nonetheless, he insists the video was edited to misrepresent the events. According to him, he approached his car only to retrieve his phone and driver\u2019s licence. He did this to exchange details with Augusto, which they did before he left the scene. He expressed horror at the edited footage circulating online. Additionally, he said his legal team <a href=\"https:\/\/centralnews.co.za\/aldrin-sampear-apologizes-for-road-rage-incident-returns-to-newzroom-afrika\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">would address the matter factually<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Following the incident, Augusto laid assault charges against Sampear at Linden Police Station. Gauteng police confirmed an ongoing investigation into the common assault case, reviewing video evidence and witness statements. The broadcaster stated it was taking the allegations seriously and conducting an internal review. On live television, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.citizen.co.za\/news\/tv-news-anchor-aldrin-sampear-apologises-road-rage\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">he issued an apology<\/a> amidst the ongoing road rage scandal. He acknowledged his actions, admitted he should have been more composed and worked to de-escalate the situation. <a href=\"https:\/\/sundayworld.co.za\/news\/aldrin-sampear-apologises-after-road-rage-incident-back-on-air\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">While maintaining he did not assault the other driver<\/a>, he expressed sincere regret. He stated that he fell short of his own standards and the expectations of viewers, colleagues, and management.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Even though Sampear\u2019s apology was both personal and public, the road rage scandal still loomed overhead. He addressed viewers directly, including younger audiences, saying, \u201cTo the babies out there, Uncle Aldrin is very, very sorry.\u201d He expressed hope for forgiveness and committed to rebuilding trust through better behavior moving forward.
