Comparing the Municipal Demarcation Board’s 2026 and 2021 ward maps, 27 wards have the same boundaries, 43 have minor changes and 37 have been redrawn more noticeably.

Tshwane covers a large area, from Ga-Rankuwa and Hammanskraal in the north-west and north, to Centurion in the south and Bronkhorstspruit and Ekangala in the east. Some rural wards in Regions 2, 5 and 7 cover hundreds of square kilometres.

Wards are grouped below by the City of Tshwane’s seven regions. Each ward is placed in the region that covers most of its area.

How To Read The Ward Tables

Main areas covered: suburbs, townships and extensions that fall mostly or entirely inside the ward, using Stats SA’s official place names. “(part)” means only part of that area is in the ward, so neighbours in the same suburb may vote in different wards. Newer developments built after 2011 may not be named, so confirm with the IEC.

AH stands for agricultural holdings, and “Ext” for extension.

Boundary since 2021: compares the 2026 ward with the ward of the same number used in 2021. “Same” means the boundary is effectively unchanged, “Minor changes” means small adjustments, and “Redrawn” means the ward now covers a noticeably different area. Where a ward was redrawn, we show which old ward or wards most of it came from.

The area lists are a guide for residents.
