This session works in shaping global cultural policies with far-reaching social and economic implications.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This monumental event forms part of South Africa\u2019s G20 Presidency\u2014the first ever held on African soil. This marks a historic milestone not only for the nation but for the African continent as a whole. The presence of global cultural leaders and policymakers in Sandton underlines South Africa\u2019s growing role as a global voice in the integration of culture into sustainable development frameworks.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-minister-gayton-mckenzie-to-deliver-keynote-address\">Minister Gayton McKenzie to Deliver Keynote Address<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>South Africa\u2019s Minister of Sport, Arts and Culture, Mr. Gayton McKenzie, will officially open the session with a keynote address. He will reinforce the importance of Africa\u2019s cultural narratives on the world stage. These include:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Safeguarding and restitution of cultural heritage<\/strong> \u2013 Emphasizing the importance of protecting heritage as a human right and advocating for the return of stolen cultural assets to their countries of origin.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Cultural policies in socio-economic strategies<\/strong> \u2013 Exploring how culture can be harnessed to foster inclusive growth, economic empowerment, and social justice.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Digital transformation and cultural sustainability<\/strong> \u2013 Investigating the role of technology in preserving and promoting culture, including the use of AI, virtual reality, and digital archives.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Culture and climate change<\/strong> \u2013 Addressing how cultural narratives and indigenous knowledge can influence and shape sustainable environmental practices.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n<p>These themes reflect a growing global acknowledgment of the transformative power of culture.
