Since 1954, the organisation has played a key role in shaping South Africa\u2019s healthcare system.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>At the <strong>CMSA 70th Anniversary Conference<\/strong>, held at the University of Pretoria\u2019s Future Africa Campus, Gauteng MEC for Health and Wellness <strong>Nomantu Nkomo-Ralehoko<\/strong> praised its contribution to the sector. She said the CMSA has remained a trusted partner to both doctors and the public.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\">\n<p>\u201cThe Colleges of Medicine of South Africa has been a trusted partner to the Gauteng Department of Health for many years. Through our central hospitals that include Chris Hani Baragwanath, Charlotte Maxeke Johannesburg, Steve Biko, and Dr George Mukhari, we provide clinical platforms that make specialist training possible. Together, we have trained generations of doctors who continue to serve with excellence,\u201d said Nkomo-Ralehoko.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-cmsa-helps-reduce-specialist-shortages\">CMSA Helps Reduce Specialist Shortages<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>The MEC stressed the importance of this partnership. She explained that CMSA helps train specialists in high-demand fields like <strong>Neonatology, Psychiatry, and Paediatrics<\/strong>. These areas are especially important as Gauteng increases its focus on <strong>mother, child, and mental health services<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>By creating strong training pathways, the <strong>Colleges of Medicine of South Africa<\/strong> is helping reduce the shortage of specialists. It also ensures that professional standards remain high while making healthcare more fair and accessible.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-a-strong-legacy-and-future\">A Strong Legacy and Future<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Since its founding in 1954, the <strong>Colleges of Medicine of South Africa<\/strong> has grown into a leader in specialist training. Its examinations and qualifications are recognised across South Africa and internationally.
