The project started with mobilisation in early August 2025. Major construction begins on 1 October 2025 and is expected to finish by November 2026.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This R276 million contract is awarded to Roadmac Surfacing. Work will involve removing damaged pavement layers, repairing cracks, and overlaying the carriageway. Construction will happen during both day and night to speed up progress.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"traffic-management-during-the-first-project\">Traffic Management During the First Project<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>During peak traffic times, all lanes will remain open to ease congestion. Peak hours are 5:30 am to 9:30 am southbound in the mornings and 3:00 pm to 6:30 pm northbound in the afternoons.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Outside these hours, lane closures will occur with one lane closed in each direction as part of the N1 Roadworks. Stop\/go traffic systems will control the traffic flow in these sections.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Motorists should anticipate longer delays and plan their travel times accordingly.
