Instead, the young flyhalf’s focus is simple: win every game possible, knowing that victories bring the Boks closer to more silverware.

Speaking at a Powerade sponsorship event on Friday, Feinberg-Mngomezulu said the squad’s mindset for the remainder of the season is all about consistency and results. “The team, we just want to win as many games as possible. The more games we win, the better our chances of winning trophies,” he emphasised.

Rugby Championship Challenge Ahead

The Boks’ next assignment is the highly anticipated Rugby Championship, which kicks off this weekend. Rassie Erasmus’ side will face the Wallabies in back-to-back Tests, starting at Ellis Park in Johannesburg on Saturday, followed by a Cape Town clash the following weekend.

After those fixtures, South Africa will travel to New Zealand for two away Tests against the All Blacks, before concluding the tournament with home and away matches against Argentina. It’s a demanding schedule, but one that Feinberg-Mngomezulu believes the squad is ready for.

The Boks have enjoyed a perfect start to 2025, having already beaten the invitational Barbarians, Italy in a two-Test series, and Georgia.

<ins class="adsbygoogle" style="display:block;" data-ad-client="ca-pub-1852772760112594"
data-ad-slot="1819787043"
data-ad-format="auto" data-full-width-responsive="true"></ins>

Confidence From the Camp

Feinberg-Mngomezulu credited the team’s recent two-week training camp in Joburg for instilling confidence and clarity ahead of the competition. “The camp was eye-opening and kind of set us straight about what we want to achieve in the Rugby Championship. We have worked so hard, and it just shows how motivated the coaching staff are to see us do big things. We just want to reciprocate that energy back to them,” he said.

He added that the preparation phase has been both intense and enjoyable. “Last year we tasted Rugby Championship success, and that taste is still lingering. We want to taste that again, and pre-seasons like this are the way to get there.”

Eden Park in the Distance

One fixture already sparking excitement is the Boks’ clash against the All Blacks at Eden Park — a ground where South Africa have not won since 1937. The closest they came in recent memory was a draw in 1994.

Feinberg-Mngomezulu admitted that the chance to play in such a high-stakes encounter is thrilling. “Every little stepping stone to moments like that is crucial. Whether it’s a game at Eden Park, a Rugby Championship decider, or a World Cup match, the high-pressure environment we live and train in helps prepare us for those moments,” he explained.

<ins class="adsbygoogle" style="display:block;" data-ad-client="ca-pub-1852772760112594"
data-ad-slot="1819787043"
data-ad-format="auto" data-full-width-responsive="true"></ins>

All Eyes on Australia First

While Eden Park looms large, Feinberg-Mngomezulu was quick to stress that the immediate priority is Saturday’s opener against Australia. The Wallabies will arrive desperate to spoil South Africa’s momentum, but the Boks know a strong start could set the tone for the entire campaign.

Erasmus will confirm his matchday squad on Monday, and with depth in key positions, competition for places is fierce. For Feinberg-Mngomezulu, every game is an opportunity — not just to prove himself but to contribute to a winning culture.

Hungry for More Glory

The Springboks’ drive to dominate every match is rooted in a shared ambition: to keep adding to their already glittering trophy cabinet. Feinberg-Mngomezulu embodies this mentality, showing a maturity beyond his years.

If the Boks can maintain their perfect start to 2025 and carry their form into the Rugby Championship, more historic moments could be on the horizon — and for this rising star, every step taken in green and gold is about lifting the team to greater heights.

Related article: Springboks Set Sights on Ending All Blacks’ Eden Park Dominance

Emerging Springbok talent Sacha Feinberg-Mngomezulu insists that personal milestones are far from his mind as the reigning world champions prepare for the Rugby Championship.
