This will bring affordable and convenient public transport to more residents in the city&#8217;s northern parts. The latest extension, known as Rea Vaya Phase 1C, will see new routes operating through key areas including Sandton and Alexandra.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-progress-on-phase-1c-a-construction\"><strong>Progress on Phase 1C (a) Construction<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Progress on Phase 1C (a), which runs along Louis Botha Avenue towards<a href=\"https:\/\/www.gauteng.net\/whats-on-g\/investec-sandton-changes-to-invested\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\"> Sandton<\/a>, is well underway. Most of the construction work has been completed. In addition, all 13 new low-floor bus stations are nearing readiness. Significant infrastructure developments, such as three bridges, are also complete. These include the Rea Vaya bus and pedestrian bridge on Lees Street in Marlboro. There is also a dedicated cycling and walking bridge near Grayston Drive. These cards, which normally cost R50, are available on a first-come, first-served basis. To receive a free card, commuters must have a cellphone capable of receiving an OTP for registration. The card distribution will continue at Bellevue station through October.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-wide-reach-of-the-new-routes\"><strong>Wide Reach of the New Routes<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>The new routes will not only serve Alexandra and Sandton but also improve connectivity to other important neighbourhoods and suburbs. According to the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.gauteng.net\/whats-on-g\/rea-vaya-busses\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Rea Vaya website<\/a>, the expanded Phase 1C (a) will link areas such as Johannesburg CBD, Hillbrow, Bellevue, Yeoville, and Orange Grove. It will also connect to Cheltondale, Highlands North, Balfour Park, Gresswold, Bramley, Wynberg, Marlboro, Athol, Sandown, Longmeadow, and Greenstone. The new routes will broaden the system\u2019s reach and offer greater accessibility to Johannesburg residents. This expansion marks an important step in enhancing Johannesburg\u2019s public transport network.
