Access Control and Surveillance<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p>Venues will have high-security zones with features like aerial drones, facial recognition software, and plainclothes units to manage and regulate access.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-3-emergency-response-coordination\">3. Emergency Response Coordination<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p>Dedicated trauma and medical units will be stationed near venues. Mock drills will test the task force&#8217;s ability for efficient response to medical emergencies or evacuation needs.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-4-crowd-and-traffic-management\">4. Crowd and Traffic Management<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p>To manage large crowds, officials will introduce special traffic lanes, diversions, and increased public transport services. High on the agenda is the installation of CCTV cameras. We can now confirm that around the Nasrec precinct, we have installed CCTV cameras.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-economic-and-social-impact-for-gauteng\">Economic and Social Impact for Gauteng<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>The G20 summit will economically benefit the region by bringing in a large volume of international guests. The hospitality, tourism, and retail industries are likely to gain. Businesses in the vicinity of summit locations need to be ready for limited access, monitoring, and a heavy security presence, though.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>While security will be uppermost, the task team is striving to minimize disruptions, maintaining the normal rhythm of business and daily life for Gauteng residents. Reprioritisation of budgets by departments, use of state-owned facilities, and public-private partnership agreements will fund operations. An external funding will be secured by a G20 Sponsorship Committee with transparency and risk mitigation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\">\n<p>Given government&#8217;s tight fiscal environment, institutions involved in G20 should focus<br>on high-impact initiatives to reduce costs, with departments expected to fund<br>activities primarily through reprioritisation and realignment of current budget<br>baselines.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Departments unable to fund G20 activities through reprioritisation have received<br>supplementary funding through the 2024 Adjusted Estimates of National Expenditure<br>to offset the G20 funding shortfall in 2024\/25.
