The all-new Omoda C7, a plug-in hybrid SUV, is set to make its first public appearance at the prestigious horse racing and fashion spectacle. This will happen before it hits the local market in the coming weeks.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-bridging-the-gap-between-the-c5-and-c9\">Bridging the Gap Between the C5 and C9<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Positioned neatly between the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.gauteng.net\/whats-on-g\/omoda-unwraps-sharp-futuristic-c3\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Omoda <\/a>C5 X-Series and the range-topping C9, the C7 represents the brand\u2019s latest step in filling out its SUV lineup. Initially unveiled in Thailand in March and showcased again at the Beijing International Auto Show in April, the production-ready C7 arrives with bold aspirations. While the Thai version of the SUV generates 265kW and 530Nm, the South African-spec model will arrive with slightly reduced output for local adaptation. Yet it still boasts a robust 255kW and 525Nm.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This potent setup combines a 1.5-litre turbocharged petrol engine (T-GDI) with an 18.4-kWh lithium-ion battery. This setup delivers power to a rear-mounted electric motor. The system mirrors what was recently introduced in Jaecoo\u2019s J7 SHS, including a single-speed Dedicated Hybrid Transmission (DHT) for smooth transitions between electric and petrol drive modes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>With an all-electric range of 105 km and a total <a href=\"https:\/\/www.gauteng.net\/whats-on-g\/volvo-xc60-plug-in-hybrid-review\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">hybrid<\/a> driving range of 1,200 km, the C7 SHS strikes an impressive balance between efficiency and capability. However, due to detuned specs for South Africa, the combined range is expected to decrease by approximately 50 km. The C7 supports DC fast charging at speeds up to 40 kW.
