The Gauteng Tourism Authority (GTA) is an agency of the Gauteng Department of Economic Development whose mission is to develop, promote, coordinate, and facilitate responsible and sustainable tourism in the Gauteng city region, and to create a world-class destination that attracts business visitors and all other tourists to the province. The GTA seeks to appoint suitable candidates with the relevant qualifications and experience for the following position.
REVENUE GENERATION MANAGER

Total Cost to Company Package: R 995 705 per annum (all-inclusive), negotiable

GTA seeks to appoint a Revenue Generation Manager who will manage market positioning, market intelligence, new business, advances, reporting and structuring of tourism investment deals, analyse and develop new business opportunities, as well as coordinate the strategic planning process or projects.
KEY PERFORMANCE AREAS
Amongst others, the manager will be responsible for:
Developing tactical plans to drive revenue growth: Analyse and develop new business opportunities and coordinates the strategic planning process or projects. Identify and utilise opportunities for revenue growth to deliver on targets. Drive opportunities for revenue growth and cost reduction. Collaborate closely with relevant stakeholders as per strategy to identify revenue opportunities. Monitor revenue growth for applicable income streams. Monitor and manage efficiencies within the tourism operations to maximise net revenues from all activities. Proactively keep up to date with issues that may impact the tourism economy and actively participate as a team member contributing to and undertaking special projects and activities, as required. Identify, drive, and implement ideas, policies, procedures, standards, and frameworks to enhance sales and increase profit and manage future fit practice.
Build relationships that allow for the managing of expectations; the sharing of knowledge and diverse insights; and the creation of buy-in: Develop, implement, and manage a stakeholder communications plan which helps establish, develop, and maintain strong relationships with key visitor economy and investment partners. Manage and build productive and positive relationships with all stakeholders and ensure appropriate strategies and plans are developed, implemented, and reviewed. Manage, evaluate, and document any issues in relation to internal and external stakeholders. Review, analyse and provide recommendation on a range of strategic issues including marketing, event, and product development. Supply and promote Gauteng Tourism research, insights, marketing, and partnership opportunities to relevant stakeholders. Assist with the development of destination marketing strategies and cooperative marketing opportunities.
Drive strategic projects, change management and platform integration across operations: Brainstorm, identify, implement, and drive innovative best practice ideas within the organisation to ensure increased efficiencies. Contribute to the improved effectiveness of the tourism units and the growth of regional tourism, including input into the development of a state-wide destination management plan. Develop and/or contribute to succinct, timely, informative, and accurate briefings, papers, and corporate reporting requirement. Be proactive in suggesting areas for improvement in internal processes along with possible solutions.
Provide subject matter expertise and thought leadership in area of expertise: Foster a collaborative team spirit focused on service delivery to both internal and external clients. Represent GTA at industry, government, and public forums and on working parties and committees. Create and participate in specialist communities of practice and represents the organisation at Group and industry level to share best practice insights and solutions. Promote teamwork and achievement of common purpose by encouraging GTA colleagues to share information and ideas.
Contribute to the development of a budget aligned to operational delivery plans, monitor effectiveness and report on variances: Collate, analyse, evaluate data and information to forecast expenditure and cash flow trends and make recommendations to improve budget. Provide input into functional budget. Monitor and report on variances. Minimise expenditure and manage costs.
Ensure compliance to legislative and audit requirements and adherence to relevant processes: Ensure compliance with relevant statutory, legislative, policy and governance requirements in area of accountability. Ensure implementation of relevant policies, governance, and practice standards across the business. Maintain expert knowledge on relevant legislative amendments, industry best practices and internal compliance procedures and requirements. Ensure compliance is adopted in terms of systems and procedures as laid out by organisation. Implement and provide input into the development of governance and compliance procedures and processes within area of specialisation and identify risk.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
The Revenue Generation Manager calls for a highly skilled individual who has a minimum qualification of a bachelor’s degree in business administration, project management, finance, accounting, or related field. Experience in revenue generation and raising sponsorships will be an added advantage.
