Key Requirements
- Qualification: Diploma in HIV Management or relateded qualification for HPCSA registration as a Medical Practitioner.
- Registration: Current registration with the HPCSA as a Medical Practitioner.
- Experience:
- Minimum of 3 years of experience as a Medical Practitioner after registration with the HPCSA.
- 3 years of direct work experience in HIV, STIs, VMMC ART Management, TB control, TB/HIV, and DR TB Clinical Management.
- Advantageous Qualifications:
- Master’s degree in public health or equivalent.
- Knowledge of advanced, complex case management.
- Skills and Knowledge:
- Familiarity with government guidelines and protocols for HIV, STIs, VMMC TB, and DR TB management.
- Experience in training, clinical mentoring, and supervision.
- Program management skills including institutional capacity building and systems development.
- Team player with excellent analytical, oral, and written communication skills.
- Proficiency in computer skills (Excel, PowerPoint, MS Word).
- Other Requirements:
- Valid driver’s license.
- Willingness to travel extensively.
- Knowledge of PFMA legislation and government policy on HIV, STIs, and TB.
- Familiarity with DHIS, TIER.NET, EDRweb, and report writing skills.
Role Responsibilities and Duties:
- Implement Scale-Up Programs: Support the national scale-up of community and facility-based VMMC and TB/MDR TB treatment programs.
- Strategy Development: Collaborate with NTP and other partners to improve the quality of HIV, STIs, and TB care.
- Clinical Knowledge Strengthening: Enhance management skills in HIV, STIs, VMMC, and TB.
- Support National TB Control: Implement strategies to prevent TB/MDR TB.
- Technical Support and Training: Provide support and training to district management teams and service providers for TB/MDR TB treatment programs.
- Capacity Building: Enhance the capabilities of project staff, DOH counterparts, and NGOs in managing HIV, STIs, VMMC, and TB/MDR TB.
- Patient Management: Ensure accurate patient management and strengthen health care professionals’ expertise in HIV, STIs, VMMC, and TB/DR TB care.
- Monitoring and Evaluation: Assist with the implementation of monitoring and evaluation tools for HIV, STIs, and TB.
- Health Technology: Collaborate with local government and NGOs to implement health technology tools for treatment support and monitoring.
- Operations Research: Design and implement targeted research to improve program implementation.
- Reporting: Provide regular monitoring, evaluation, and status reports to the District HAST Programme.
- Health System Improvement: Work towards improving health systems for better clinical practice across health facilities.
- Guidance on Protocols: Guide the implementation of DOH HAST treatment protocols and stay updated with developments in program areas.
- Stakeholder Engagement: Facilitate and monitor programs for internal and external stakeholders and liaise with the private sector to improve community health.
- Other Duties: Perform additional duties as delegated by the Supervisor/Manager, including clinical mentorship and supporting policy dissemination.
