The Color Purple

A South African production of the classic The Color Purple has been running at the Joburg Theatre in Braamfontein, Johannesburg, and you can still catch it until 4 March 2018.

The production – based on the Alice Walker novel of the same name – follows the story of a young woman living in the American south and the difficult circumstances she has to overcome.

Under the direction of award-winning director Janice Honeyman, the latest production of the musical version of the story has local actors, singers and dancers such as Aubrey Poo, Didintle Khunou, Zane Gillion, Sebe Leotlela, Lebo Toko and Lelo Ramasimong taking the stage. The musical will feature songs in genres including gospel, jazz and blues.

Shows will start at 8pm with Sunday shows playing at 2pm and additional 3pm shows on Saturdays.

Ticket prices range from R240 to R400.
