Dance Umbrella 2018

One of South Africa's biggest dance festivals is back for this year's edition. The Dance Umbrella 2018 will be taking place at various venues in Johannesburg from 6 to 18 March 2018.

The festival is celebrating its 30th year and the celebrations will continue the aim of creating a free and open platform for different types of contemporary dance styles. Some of the dance pieces to look forward to include Vincent Sekwati Mantsoe's Mayhem, on the opening night; Embracing Gravity by Moving into Dance Mophatong; Nothing Makes Sense by Thulani Chauke; and Bag Beatings by Sello Pesa.

The venues hosting the festival are:

  • Wits Theatre, Wits Amphitheatre and Wits Downstairs Theatre in Braamfontein
  • Dance Factory in Newtown
  • UJ Arts & Culture in Auckland Park
  • Joburg Fringe Theatre in Braamfontein

Performances will take place from 8pm until 10pm on each night.

Ticket prices range from R80 to R150.
