Since its establishment 10 years ago, the company has grown to be one of the most significant national hot air balloon operators with over 11 locations throughout South Africa.
Hot Air Ballooning SA is fully licenced with the Civil Aviation Authority of South Africa and has an impeccable safety record. The senior pilots have both been awarded the Protea National Colours for Ballooning.

Preparing For Your Flight

The minimum age limit is 5 years old and passengers are required to declare their weight and any medical conditions that might affect their flight. As a passenger, you are required to be fit enough to stand for the whole duration of the flight.

Flights always take place at sunrise. Although the flight experience is approximately 1 hour, the entire experience is usually 4 hours and includes watching the balloon being inflated over a cup of tea or coffee, whilst passengers take pictures and enjoy the beautiful landscape.

It is essential to wear peel-able layers of clothing as the early mornings can be nippy but the weather warms up as the sun rises, and temperatures in the air are generally warmer than on the ground. Long pants, flat closed shoes and a hat or cap are also essential.
