What's on in Gauteng: 3 to 9 November 2017

Get your running shoes ready – we're running at the Johannesburg Zoo and at Maropeng this weekend. And if you don't have any, get them at this year's Sneaker Exchange. We also have whisky and spirits to taste, and if you're in Sedibeng, visit Sharpeville for some art, crafts, food and great music.

Nappy Run 2017

4 November

Join the Nappy Run 2017 at the Johannesburg Zoo in Parkview, Johannesburg, on Saturday 4 November 2017.

The event aims to raise awareness of the many challenges children with disabilities in South Africa face, as well as to raise funds and collect nappies for them. Tackle the 5km fun-run course in any way that works for you – from running or walking to a gentle stroll.

The events starts at 8.30am, with registration from 7am to 8am. Registration fees are R90 for adults and R45 for children under 12.

Sharpeville Arts and Crafts Market

4 November

The second Sharpeville Craft Market will be held at the Sharpeville Human Rights Precinct in Sharpeville, Sedibeng, on 4 November 2017.

The craft market will include stalls offering craft beer, clothes, cocktails, gourmet food and more. There will also be music and live performances from musicians Shef & The Kitchen, and rappers Yoh'Lee, Golden Shovel and Maths Dipalo. DJs on the day will include DJ OB Gwala, DJ Pepe, Thabang Mrepha and Chainz.

The market will start at 11am and end at 6pm. Entrance is free.

Sneaker Exchange Jozi 2017

4 November

Sneaker Exchange Jozi is back in the province on 4 November 2017. Don't miss it at Carfax in Newtown, Johannesburg.

From 11am until 7pm, everyone will once again have the chance to buy, sell and exchange their sneakers while being entertained by top local artists and DJs. This year's line-up includes rappers Nadia Nakai and Frank Casino, with DJ Capital and The Humble Lord Veezus on the decks.

Online tickets cost R80 and entrance at the door will cost R100.

Myrun Maropeng

5 November

For the first time ever, join the Myrun Maropeng in the Cradle of Humankind on the West Rand, on 5 November 2017.

You can enjoy the run or walk, as well as the stunning views around Maropeng, along a 5km course. The run will start at 9am and there will be a buffet breakfast after the race at the Tumulus restaurant. The breakfast will cost R80 for adults and R40 for children under 12.

8 to 10 November

Don't miss Whisky and Spirits Live at the Sandton Convention Centre in Sandton, Johannesburg, from 8 to 10 November 2017.

Expect to learn more from industry experts, taste the brands on offer and attend masterclasses.

Tickets cost R240 for general access and R160 for designated drivers. VIP tickets cost R2 565.
