Rugby over pizza, and live entertainment before the Soweto Derby. That is what sports lovers can look forward to at Melrose Arch this Saturday.

Soccer fans can watch the Soweto Derby between Kaizer Chiefs and Orlando Pirates on the big screen on the square. Book a table at any restaurant on the square and enjoy a build-up festival from 11am until kick-off at 3:30pm.

The rugby clash between the Lions and the Highlanders at 3pm can be viewed from several piazza restaurants at Melrose Arch. When you make your booking ask for a table under the marquee.

Cassper Nyovest in the Vaal

It’s Vanderbijlpark’s turn to experience Cassper Nyovest’s #AGHashtag Refiloe Album Tour. The concert is part of a national 10-city tour.

The Doc Shebeleza hitmaker will perform at the Emerald Resort and Casino this Friday and tickets cost R120 per person. The show starts at 6pm.

Movies in the Park

30 July 

Feel like a movie marathon? 

Then Movies in the Park at the Riversands Farm Village in Midrand is the place to be this Saturday.

From 10am to 7pm you can catch six movies back-to-back and families are welcome to bring picnic baskets or use the farm’s braai facilities.

Tickets cost from R20 to R100.

Love Norwood Day

31 July 

This Sunday is Love Norwood Day.

The Norwood Park will be a hive of activity with a pop-up market, food stalls, live entertainment and a whole lot more from 10am to 4pm.

Proceeds from the day will go towards the maintenance of the park. Visit the Love Norwood website for more information. 

Cycle2Hike MTB Challenge

31 July 

For sightseeing with a twist in Soweto this Sunday, head to the Eyethu Lifestyle Centre at Mofolo for the Cycle2Hike MTB Challenge.

The challenge, which is on every last Sunday of the month, gives participants a chance to explore Soweto on foot or by mountain bike.

Bikes and helmets are available for hire. The cycle fee is R20 if you have your own bike and helmet and R50 if you’re hiring both of these. The hiking fee is R10.
