Sophiatown, one of South Africa’s timeless musicals, has been revived with a new cast under the direction of Aubrey Sekhabi to delight today’s audiences.

Sophiatown became known as the Chicago of South Africa, a place where shebeen queens, gangsters and politicians met for drinks, music or simply to show-off their latest fashion trends. The community produced some of South Africa’s most famous musicians, artists, writers, journalists and politicians in the 1940s and 1950s.

Beauty and the Beast – a panto-musical

Beauty and the Beast – a panto-musical is a hilarious twist on the classic fairy tale. One of the main characters, Jolie, lives in a small dorp with her sisters and Dame Transessuale. The villagers begin to starve, and Dame Transessuale sets off to find food and shelter in order to save them. While travelling, she is captured by a beast. This musical theatre performance is a delight for the entire family, and will have you laughing, smiling and singing along.
