Weaver's Roost Resort

Weaver's Roost Resort is a quiet campsite in the Magaliesberg region of north-western Gauteng, situated 10km from the world-famous Maropeng centre in the UNESCO-protected Cradle of Humankind.

The campsite accommodates both campers and those with caravans, and also offers a choice of self-catering cabins that sleep up to eight people (note that bedding is not provided).

Popular with families, there's lots for kids to do, with a large swimming pool, playground, mini-golf and a games room equipped with a pool table, table tennis and TV. If coming from the south, stock up in Krugersdorp (25km away) or alternatively there are some small stores, including a garage and a bottle store, in the nearby town of Hekpoort (5km away).

Noise is discouraged and dogs, motorbikes and loud music are not allowed at the campsite. Instead, visitors are encouraged to enjoy the peace and tranquility and make the most of the surrounding attractions.

Follow one of the hiking trails that leave directly from the camp, take a drive and visit Maropeng or the Sterkfontein Caves, or go for a game drive at the nearby Rhino and Lion Nature Reserve.

Camping from R165 per night. Day visitors R30 per car, plus R80 per person.

Follow the signs to the campsite on the R563 before the R96 (5km south of Hekpoort).
