Tshwane seminar focuses on fashion and textiles
One of the highlights on the calendar of the Tshwane University of Technology is the annual fashion show of the Department of Fashion Design.
This year the fashion show will form part of a full-day seminar, Fastex, with the theme Beyond 2012: Development of fashion and textiles in the South African economy.
To be held at the CSIR International Convention Centre in Pretoria on 18 November, the show's programme includes seminar speakers such as Dion Chang, a well-known corporate trend analyst and design consultant; Tony Budden, a founding member of Hemporium, a South African hemp company dedicated to educating people about the potential of industrial hemp; and Leslie Sedibe, a businessman who served as CEO of the South African Football Association from 2010 to 2011.
Boitumelo Mekwa, head of the Department of Fashion Design, says, “We expect 350 delegates and at least six speakers representing the fashion design and textile design industries.”
