Letters from our CEO

Welcome message from Dawn Robertson

As CEO of Gauteng Tourism Authority I am today proud to announce the launch of our newly revamped website, www.gauteng.net, an online portal for everything travel and tourism in the Gauteng province. The new look website offers locals and visitors alike the latest information on how to get to Gauteng, what to do once you’re here, how to get around and what to look out for during your visit.

Far from being the place you pass through on your way to somewhere else, Gauteng offers visitors loads of reasons to stay! The new site boasts write-ups of 100 top attractions in the province – ranging from cultural and historic attractions to a world heritage site and national monuments – with directions of how to get there, opening times, entry fees, contact details, nearby attractions and up to date content of what makes this hot spot special. Another 100 attractions are set to go live in the New Year.

For visitors to Gauteng, www.gauteng.net is the first port of call regarding pertinent information about each of the province’s regions, offering a visitor guide with information on money, geography, weather, history, transport and communication.

The visitor guide also highlights prominent Gauteng personalities and provides a detailed biography of each colourful character who makes the province great.

As the heartbeat of the South African economy, Gauteng is often the main destination for business travellers. For those looking for business opportunities within the province, you definitely want to visit the busines section of our website. Here you will find all the information you need to ensure you speak to the right people.

For international and local media, www.gauteng.net offers fact sheets about the province (free for download) and hi-res image galleries of the province. Accredited partners simply need to login and register on the media page.

For those involved in travel and tourism in the various regions of Gauteng, you are urged to visit the travel industry section of the website, where MICE venues and industry services rendered by the GTA are published.

The launch of the site also sees Gauteng Tourism step boldly into the arena of social networking, with integrated feeds to our new presence on Twitter, Flickr, YouTube and Facebook.

We’re extremely proud of our province, and believe that everyone who visits us can – and should – have a truly memorable stay in this amazing place. We hope the new www.gauteng.net will give visitors and locals the best possible virtual introduction to Gauteng and we encourage you to join our online community.
