Entertainment Attractions
Overview
As far as fun goes, Gauteng is a veritable play ground! There are numerous places dedicated to the pursuit of pleasure in this province. Carnival City Casino and Entertainment World, Emerald Resort and Casino, Gold Reef City and Monte Casino are four such one-stop entertainment centres offering gaming and an abundance of other options including cinema, theatre, concerts, boxing matches, amusement parks and even game drives and a zoo. These leisure activities continue to keep the crowds flocking in.
At the Johannesburg Zoo, opened in 1904, over 2000 animals can be seen. The Pretoria Zoo is the largest in South Africa. Both zoos delight scores of visitors and help to educate people around environmental and conservation issues. Apart from the animals, the beautiful grounds make a glorious backdrop for the birds and beasts that live there.
Live music venues such as Kippies International Jazz Club at the Market Theatre are legendary for featuring local and international musicians and partying at this venue continues until the early morning hours. The Blues Room in the Village Walk has also hosted some famous musicians. If it is night life you are after, the northern suburbs are full of clubs and hot spots with Rivonia being the hub of adult entertainment.
