Experience the spirit of ubuntu
Ubuntu, the African expression of “oneness”, means a sense of generosity, a spirit of unity. This November, Johannesburg will host the Global Afrika Ubuntu Indaba (GAUI), offering residents an opportunity to practically share the values of ubuntu and learn about our spiritual heritage.
Taking place from 9 to 11 November, and supported by the Johannesburg Tourism Company (JTC), GAUI will welcome delegates from across the world as they travel to embrace African unity.
Speaking on behalf of JTC, CEO Lindiwe Kwele commented, "As a city, we are proud to host such a prestigious gathering that celebrates the values of ubuntu and embraces our inter-connectedness and diversity.
“Today, the need to rediscover a more spiritual way of living has never been more relevant. We encourage all residents, together with visitors from across the regions and overseas, to support this extraordinary event and to take inspiration from its message of unity.”
“This is an unprecedented opportunity for everyone to contribute towards the African spiritual rebirth and the spiritual rebirth of the world,” says organiser Dr Desre Coertze.
This landmark event will unite people in 160 countries and potentially 400-million people through live Facebook streaming in prayer, meditation and blessings for 30 minutes at 23h00 South African time on 11 November 2011.
Accommodation packages are available for those wishing to stay in the city and take advantage of the vibrant and welcoming atmosphere.
