Take a trip back in time in this authentic cowboy saloon-styled restaurant where steak reigns supreme on the menu.
Thunder Gun has been serving up steaks since it first opened in 1968, and loyal patrons consider this retro steakhouse a meat-lover's heaven on earth. T-bone steaks come in mini, super or extra-large sizes, sirloin with a mustard and rosemary rub more than fills the gap and the ribs are a feast on their own. Side servings of baked potatoes with sour cream or chips somehow find room on your plate.
The wine menu is eclectic and there is a wide selection of burgers, chicken dishes and even a traditional carvery to choose from. The desserts are pure nostalgia, among them the 1970s favourites Dom Pedro and Peppermint Crisp Sundae. Kids under 12 years old get their own menu.
Open for lunch and dinner, Monday to Sunday, Thunder Gun also has a pub for watching the game over a draught beer with a pub lunch of liver, onion and chips, boerewors and pap and other pub menu staples.
Monday to Sunday: 11.30am to 3pm and 5.30pm to 10.30pm.
