Hyde Park Shopping Centre opened its doors in 1969 and was the first fully enclosed mall built in South Africa. It has pride of place on the corner of Jan Smuts Avenue and William Nicol Drive in the heart of Johannesburg’s affluent northern suburbs. The centre has continually evolved to meet the desires of the modern high-end shopper while sustaining its renowned sophistication.


Hyde Park Shopping Centre houses a unique variety of stores and boasts 130 creative, high-end speciality retailers. Five hundred of the world’s leading international brands can be found within the centre.

Regular upgrades are designed to meet the requirements of the discerning shopper by catering to conventional as well as more eclectic fashion and lifestyle trends.

The centre aims to deliver exceptional services and facilities to every visitor. The following services are available:

• An Information Desk on the Upper Mall level, which provides customer information and services. Open Monday to Saturday 09h00 to 18h00 and Sunday 10h00 to 13h00. Directory boards and signage can be found throughout the centre.

• A gift card service, store directories, wheelchair access, toilet facilities for disabled shoppers and unisex baby changing rooms.

• A unisex toilet facility designed for children, which has pint-sized toilets and basins. It is ideal for fathers taking daughters, or mothers taking sons to use the toilet facilities. These toilets are located on the Middle Mall level, next to Nu Metro Cinemas, and on the Lower Mall, next to Willoughby’s restaurant.

• Transport – which can also be arranged for local shoppers to and from Hyde Park Shopping Centre. The centre also provides London Cabs for longer trips. Ask at the Info Desk or call the number below for details.


The well-appointed Southern Sun Hyde Park is adjacent to Hyde Park Shopping Centre and makes a luxurious base for international travellers who can shop, eat out at one of the centre’s great restaurants or catch a movie without leaving the premises.
