On Sundays, many Gautengers spend their time trawling the Hatfield Flea Market, a bustling bazaar in the middle of South Africa’s capital city, Pretoria. Collectors, bargain hunters, foodies and style mavens flock to the plaza each week to see what the traders have to offer.

The market is home to more than 200 stalls peddling everything from unique decorative items and antique furniture to sparkling accessories and handmade African crafts. The market’s food court offers a selection of snacks, treats and beverages for the shopper in need of refreshment, and local performers keep market visitors entertained between purchases.

On the first Sunday of every month, some of South Africa’s top antique dealers gather to offer old-world rarities at the Hatfield Antiques and Collectables Fair, while the last Sunday of the month sees arts and crafters from across Mzansi selling handcrafted items at the Hatfield Art and Craft Fair.
