Garden World – a world of things to see and do
The beautiful lawns of Garden World in Muldersdrift, lined with rose bushes and magnificent trees, have always been hugely popular for weddings. The setting is exquisite both outside and inside, where the reception area is set up around a sparkling indoor pool.
However, you will be surprised to discover there is so much more at Garden World than just a wedding venue.
Situated on Beyers Naudé Drive, north-west of Johannesburg, Garden World offers visitors a slice of the countryside, every day of the week, and is family-friendly.
Antique lovers will revel in Riempies Antiques, a huge showroom of the most amazing items from ball-and-claw furniture, hat stands, washbasins and chandeliers to Art Deco wardrobes and elaborately carved Art Nouveau chairs. After all that browsing, a cup of coffee and a snack in the tea garden under the shade of old trees is highly recommended.
From there, visitors can wander across to the animal farmyard, a highlight for children and adults. Get up close with friendly, pot-bellied pigs and rowdy goats and their offspring.
Visitors can also walk through another enclosure with curious geese at their heels and rabbits scampering across their path. It also houses a show-off peacock that flaunts his feathers to anyone looking in his direction.
The Garden World nursery is a central point of calm and tranquillity. It showcases “designer gardens” from which visitors can draw inspiration, as well as gardens designed by schoolchildren.
The store sells a wide range of décor items like mirrors and candlesticks, and all things garden-related like patio furniture, water features, containers and swings.
Garden World also offers an arts and crafts market, a playground, a supper theatre, kids’ parties, school outings, kitchen teas and, of course, the perfect setting for a wedding.
