Eastgate Shopping Centre
If you’re coming to Gauteng for a little retail therapy, be sure to stop in at Eastgate, one of Johannesburg’s premier shopping centres. Located in Bedfordview, just off the highway between OR Tambo International Airport and the Johannesburg city centre, the centre has 250 stores that cater for all tastes and styles.
From department stores to lavish boutiques to fast food outlets and top restaurants, this multi-storey establishment has something for everybody. It’s little wonder that more than two million people visit the centre each month.
A large Ster-Kinekor cinema complex shows the latest movies throughout the day, while promotional events and competitions take place regularly in the centre courts. During school breaks and public holidays, fun activities for children are set up in the centre.
Eastgate is home to a variety of specialty stores including gadget shops, confectionaries, shoe and bag boutiques, hairdressers and nail specialists, an Automobile Association store and large book dealers.
Those looking for something to eat don’t have far to go – Eastgate’s all-new, open-air piazza offers discerning diners an array of dining options. Add to that more than 15 food outlets in the centre, as well as seven fast-food outlets, and it’s unlikely that any shopper will go hungry.
The centre has 4 306 free parking bays and 1 188 undercover bays, three baby change and feed facilities, and a free wheelchair service for disabled customers. The centre’s information kiosk assists customers with queries and sells Eastgate gift cards, which are redeemable for one year at any of the Liberty Life Property Centres across the country, including Eastgate, Sandton City, Alberton City, Greenacres (Port Elizabeth), Midlands Mall (Pietermaritzburg) and the Promenade (Mitchells Plain, Cape Town).
