If you’re keen to soak up some sunshine and enjoy a restful day out with the family, why not pack a picnic basket, stick a blanket in the car and head to the Bunny Park, in Rynfeld, Benoni? The perfect option when looking for things to do in Gauteng when you have little ones.

Visitors to the Bunny Park can commune with farm animals such as cows, donkeys, goats , chickens, turtles – and rabbits, of course. It’s the ideal day out for children aged three to 10, who get to spend time with friends of the four-legged kind and learn to appreciate the natural world. It's a great option for weekend getaways in Gauteng.

The free-roaming animals at the park are tame enough to be hand-fed, and visitors are encouraged to bring fresh carrots, or purchase veggies at the park’s kiosk.

If the little ones tire of tracking down rabbits, they can also view peacocks or go on a pony ride. Pony and camel rides are available for the children, for a fee.
They could also head over to the playground where they can expend their energy on various swings, slides, a tractor and other rides.
A small train runs through the park and a mini fairground will entertain the children with rides.

Children can be entertained by ceramic painting, sand art and a fishing stall.

The family can sit down and have lunch at a number of stalls which offer a variety of light: boerewors rolls, Chinese food, Indian food, vetkoek and mince, pancakes and more.

Although there is a hot dog stand and a kiosk which sells snacks and drinks, the Bunny Park is better suited to picnicking. Braai facilities are available for guests. Alternatively, you could pack healthy sandwiches, fresh juices and spend the day relaxing on a blanket under one of the trees while the children run around.

Toilets are available on the grounds – bring along wet-wipes just in case.

The Bunny Park is perfect for young families looking for things to do in Gauteng while connecting with nature within city bounds.
